Who am I? Am I myself or somebody else?

Identity crisis

Trying to decipher what's slowly killing you many times turns out to be futile.
Human existence makes us unable to have a choice.
Characterizing yourself starts to be fatiguing, trends engulf you and you don't know what your true personality traits are.

All of a sudden you discover yourself liking what you didn't use to. Humans evolve and modify, but some things are implanted into our minds without our consent. We find ourselves acting strangely, not knowing what you stand for, what makes you tick, what tickles your funny bone, what represents you. It all seems like falsehoods.

Now we're searching for the next dose of interpersonal appreciation. We can't be ourselves if that means we'll be friendless and disliked. We start obsessing over the fact that we might look weird to others.
Are we pretending? Who are we trying to impress? When did we metamorphosize into a different person? We know something's off about our behaviour, but maybe it's too late to go back.

The world doesn't revolve around us, I'm not saying we should avoid acting like the masses (I don't even think it can be done). The probability of us standing out is extremely low. What I mean is that the social manipulation of is forcefully transforming how we go out into the world.
This is a phenomenon unequivocally happening to us and the ones around us.

We are both the puppet and the puppeteer, and our theatrical performance, also known as life, is befitting a miserably lonely person.

The alernative personality comes with many bonuses.
This version will do just fine, perhaps even better.

Our genes are inherently corrupted to adhere to what's popular.
We're linked by the common goal of self-importance, expressiveness and solidarity by learnt practices and ideas. We have the desire to please others for the purpose of our own gratification .

Even the killer kills to be recognized or to feel above the ordinary human condition.
No people are selfish without thinking how they appear to the world.

The world gives us the false sense of inclusion, individuality and selectiveness.
We can't resist the temptation of lifting our position in the hierarchy.

The social pressure devours us and we're at its mercy.
     Nobody is immune to change.
